Ely’s Journey:

In January 2007, I joined Companion with the Poor (formerly Mission Ministries Philippines). It’s been nine years now since I became a full time urban poor missionary and church planter. In that time I have grown deeper in my devotion to obey the Lord. My life changes every day as He uses me for His purpose to bless the poor.

Prior to working with CWTP I worked as project coordinator in Operation Blessing Foundation for more than three years. After my employment I joined Companion with Poor. My wife (Lourdes) and I are blessed with four healthy children. Daniel is 17, Eunice 12, Jeremiah Paul, 10 and Josiah 5 year old. Lourdes is working as assistant administrator in our sending church. Every Tuesday and Thursday she joins with me in the community and she also handles women’s groups in our church planting ministry.

Ely’s Mission:

My most recent assignment was in Villa San Isidro community in Montalban, Rizal as a church planter. In partnership with a local pastor, we were able to construct a church building and were able to establish different ministries. To date, my wife and I have mentored three churches which Companion With the Poor helped plant. I am also helping my team to establish a skills training center for the community. I am in-charge of a livelihood program and other infrastructure projects while my teammates are involved in other community programs such as feeding, sports evangelism, spiritual formation and leadership training. I am a civil engineer by profession, but since I got involved full time as an urban poor missionary I no longer practice my profession.
