Mary Ann’s Journey:
I am the second of five siblings. I came from a poor family. I grew up in Payatas (known as a dump site area). When I was in grade school, I always had nightmares. That’s why I wanted to be near God so that I could avoid nightmares. I always attended church services and then I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and savior when I was in second year high school.
Around that time I became a Sunday school teacher for the children in our church. During my summers, I also taught kids in vacation bible school. I also help out at youth camps, and I lead praise and worship in my church. I took a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Sta. Mesa Branch) and graduated in April, 1999. I was involved in campus ministry while studying at PUP. After graduation, I volunteered in church planting for six months. In 2001, I took a Graduate Diploma in Urban Ministry in Asian Theological Seminary. While finishing my graduate diploma, I joined and worked in Companion With the Poor as their secretary and bookkeeper. I also studied in Lilok and got in Certificate in Youth Work.
