Southville 8B Phase 5 Rizal Team-January 2018
As experienced church planters, it will be easy for us start another church planting ministry. But relying on our own expertise will only lead us to frustration and burn out. Solitude and prayer must be part of our lifestyle as servants of Christ in the urban poor community.
Team’s Commitment. The church that our team planted has been turned over to the local pastor. Pastor Zaldy Sabetchana and his wife, along with the trained leaders are now managing the church. The leaders continually conduct Bible study, feeding the children and properly handling the preschool. Occasionally, we visit the church and pray with them. Even though our team already exited from our regular activities in the church, we stay committed to help the church in whatever capacity we have.
Team Meetings and Community Visit. While looking for a new church planting area, our team meets regularly to pray and listen to the Lord together. We visited a community in Kasiglahan Village, about thirty-minute drive from the newly planted church in Phase 5 Southville 8B. There is a potential church partner willing to reach out the community with the gospel. For us, the community is good but may be the Lord is leading us to other community.
Sitio Pintor, Lower Community. This community is situated in the foothill of the landfill in San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal. The residents are mostly working in the landfill; some of them are scavengers while the others are employed in the junk shop. Our former pastor, Pastor Johnrey Quinones, started feeding some children and had developed a contact there. He also meets some mothers every Thursday afternoon for Bible study. We are praying for this community as well but we don’t have church partner yet. This is a challenging fact for only few people is willing to minister among the urban poor.
1. God’s wisdom and direction for our team as we pray for a new community to start another church planting ministry
2. For the new leaders in the church to have a firm commitment to the Lord
3. Our team’s financial needs for family and ministry
