I. Significant Ministry Highlight:
Our team, together with other teams from Companion With the Poor, distributed men’s shoes, unused surplus but still new together with kids shoes and dress as well as ladies’ dress and men’s sport-shirt. The distribution was done after our worship service in the afternoon. We did not announce the distribution beforehand so as to preclude people from coming so they could avail of the free gift. The items were given exclusively for those who were present that day. The men’s shoes were given to the attendees as well as to the husbands/grown-up sons of the housewives who were there that afternoon.
It is encouraging for me personally a one of the male recipient is my Bible study contact, a 76-year old man, tatay Ildefonso whose large clan in the community I have been praying for. His daughter, Josephine, a single parent suffering from depression is now also attending church.
Young people and children are now also attending church as a result of Cristal, my charismatic young lady team mate’s loving ministry among them during weekdays and on Saturday. Two young male teens, Kenmark, 12 and his best friend John Rey, 14 frequent the church whenever we come and help with the chores like arranging the chairs and cleaning the place.
II. Key objective/s for the coming month.
As mentioned in our previous update, we wanted to start a feeding program using a food pack supplied by a good Samaritan. We decided, however, not to pursue it as the food when cooked, leaves an aftertaste and the kids might not like it. It was suggested that we mix it with chicken wings or legs to make it more palatable. Since we don’t have a budget for that, we decided to apply for a feeding program with a local NGO, Proj. Matthew to supply us with pre-cooked hot lunch at least once-a-week.
We are also pursuing an out-of-school youth education program known as Alternative Learning System. We have made a preliminary inquiry with another NGO for that purpose. We are also pursuing a livelihood program to supply the community with alkaline drinking water. We are praying that we could buy a unit for that purpose at a cost of 15000 pesos. The intention for that is to help the church become self-sustaining when our church planting is over and done with by the grace of the Lord.
III. Prayer request.
Personally, please pray for my prostate enlargement that the Lord would heal me and restore my prostate to its normal size. I had to wear a catheter for two weeks last month of May when I could not void one morning. I am currently under medication to help me void. I have undergone a trans-rectal and trans-abdominal ultrasound. Please pray for God’s provision. I need also to have a biopsy test done.
Thank you for the joy and privilege of serving Him with your prayerful and financial support.
To Him be all the glory!
