Valeriano, Bart, Sheila, and family
I was raised in a poor family and was the third child out of four. My older (second) sister died in her fifth month because of pneumonia. My dad was addicted to drugs (Shabu, Cocaine, Cigarettes, Liquor and Cough Syrup) and did the drugs inside of our house. In my young age I already knew the paraphernalia that they used. Between 8-9 years old I had my first taste of cigarettes and some products of San Miguel Beer.
My mom has asthma and she is the kindest, most prayerful and sacrificial woman that I know. Before I turned 17 years old my dad miraculously changed. In just a day he said NO to all drugs (Shabu, Cocaine, Cigarette, Liquor and Cough Syrup). His stopping came not as a result of the Gospel being shared, nor counseling, nor even a rehabilitation program (though we really believe it WAS because of our prayer!). One day he just stopped and said NO to his friends and because of him lots of his friends stopped taking drugs because there was no more place for them to do their thing.
After I graduated from a 2 year Technical course when I was 18, I worked in Acbel Polytech Phil’s as as an Assembly and Test Operator for seven years. There I met my lovely wife who also worked there as a process engineer. In 2006 she went to Japan for three years to work in an Electronics company. In her stay there, she became a Born-again Christian through a Bible Study. The Lord used her to share the Gospel to me.
In September 16, 2009 I was baptized and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. In June 2009 I filed a resignation and entered a Bible School to become equipped for the ministry. In December 2009 we got married and in December 2010 we received a gift from the Lord in a baby boy and we named him Shadrach.
In 2010 I joined Companion with the Poor (at that time called Mission Ministries Philippines) to do Holistic Church Planting among the poorest of the poor. I am currently leading a church planting team in Baras in Antipolo, Rizal.
